Many Christians are familiar with the name and ministry of George Müller. His work with orphans in 19th century England has been the inspiration for many others to live by faith alone. By the end of his life, Müller and his wife had provided through faith and prayer for more than 100,000 orphans (122,683 to be precise), distributed 250,000 Bibles and 1,500,000 New Testaments in many languages, and directed £250,000 to various foreign missionaries (a huge sum by 19th century standards), all without ever asking anyone but God for money. Warning Signs

The second and third chapters of the final book of the Bible, the Book of Revelation, consist of seven letters to seven different churches that once existed in what is now modern day Turkey. Five of these letters contain severe warnings in which Jesus Christ calls these churches to repent of some false doctrine or practice or else face the judgment which He threatens. Everyone likes to hear good news. I do not know of anyone who is not cheered by some good and encouraging news, especially in a time when all looks bleak and foreboding, “Anxiety in the heart of a man weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad” (Pv 12:25). The gospel of Jesus Christ is called “good news” because that is the meaning of the word euangelion, from which we derive our word “gospel”. Read more »
